"Empowered women empower women. In celebration of International Women's Day, we sat down with Becca Project Founder Carlie Hogan to hear about who and what inspires her"
•Who’s an inspiring woman you admire and why?
"I'm not one who looks up to a particular woman; I'm surrounded by so many incredible women. I think it's important to find inspiration in the everyday women around us who demonstrate strength, resilience, and kindness in their own unique ways. Each woman has her own story and experiences that can inspire and uplift others. My best friends can wipe my tears and make me laugh at the same time. My 70-year-old neighbour goes off to work every other day and always stops to say hi, gives me a big smile and a wave as she walks to the bus. My mother-in-law is an absolute pillar of strength who is always there to help with my daughters, cook a meal, or simply join me for a glass of wine...or two. My mum who showed absolute strength, courage and bravery trying to survive cancer. It's a reminder that we can learn and grow from the women who surround us and that every woman has something valuable to offer. It's a testament to the power of female relationships and the impact they can have on our well-being and growth."
•Where do you look for inspiration?
I find inspiration by exploring different places and trying new things. Whether it's traveling to a new city, going for a walk in a park or on the beach, or trying a new cuisine, I love immersing myself in unfamiliar environments and stepping outside of my comfort zone. These experiences challenge me to see the world through a different lens, sparking my creativity and igniting my sense of wonder.
•What is a piece of wisdom that you hold dear?
One piece of wisdom that I hold dear is to “always stay true to yourself”. This means being authentic, honest, and genuine in all aspects of your life. It's important to listen to your inner voice, follow your instincts, and stay grounded in your values and beliefs, even when faced with challenges or pressures from others.
•What do you find to be the most rewarding part about owning your own business?
The freedom to have flexibility in my schedule, make my own decisions, and unleash my creativity are the most rewarding aspects of owning my own business. Owning a business can be incredibly fulfilling as you have the opportunity to build something from the ground up, set your own priorities, and shape the direction of your business according to your vision and values.
•What are you excited for in 2024?
In 2024, I am excited for the continued growth of Becca Project as we navigate through the changes over the past year and build on the foundation we’ve established. We’ve faced a lot of challenges over the past 12 months although these have undoubtedly fuelled the drive and ambition to succeed. There’s a lot to be revealed in 2024! Hang around and you’ll see
